The parents of two teen-age brothers believed responsible for more than $100,000 in vandalism on public buses have been presented with a bill demanding $38,000 in restitution.

The brothers, 14 and 16, were arrested at their home near Downtown Los Angeles as part of an investigation of graffiti on Metropolitan Transportation Authority vehicles, officials said.

The boys, who were being held Tuesday at the East Lake Juvenile Hall on felony vandalism counts, are the prime suspects in the vandalism of at least 22 buses, the MTA said. The names of the boys and their parents were not disclosed.
