Fisher-Price Plans 100 Layoffs: The toy maker said it is eliminating the white-collar jobs as a result of its being taken over by El Segundo-based Mattel Inc. The employees affected are mostly in the company’s accounting, computer and market research departments, said Donna Gibbs, a spokeswoman for Mattel. Mattel completed its $1.24-billion buyout of rival Fisher-Price last Nov. 30. The positions being eliminated overlap with others held by Mattel workers, Gibbs said. All of the jobs being lost are at Fisher-Price’s East Aurora, N.Y., headquarters, where about 850 workers will remain. Since 1990, Fisher-Price has eliminated more than half of 3,400 jobs in East Aurora.
