Westminster : School Boundaries Meetings Planned

Share

The Westminster School District will hold six informational meetings for parents about possible school boundary changes resulting from the reopening of Neomia B. Willmore Elementary School.

The meetings will be during the last week of January and the first week of February at several school sites, said spokeswoman Audrey Brown.

When Willmore reopens in the fall, it will draw 550 children from other nearby schools. As a result, the district must balance enrollment at these other campuses, including Virginia K. Boos, Ada E. Clegg, Frank N. Eastwood, James W. Franklin, C. Fred Schroeder and L.P. Webber elementary schools.

The Board of Trustees will consider the comments from parents when setting the new attendance boundaries. Supt. Gail Wickstrom will make her recommendations to the board on Feb. 3. A public hearing on the proposal will be held Feb. 17, Brown said.

The district plans to reopen Willmore--at 7122 Maple St.--in part because hundreds of students who live nearby are now bused to other campuses, Brown said.

The meetings will be at 7 p.m. on the following dates and schools:

* Jan. 24 at Virginia K. Boos Elementary School, 13890 Hammon Place, Westminster.

* Jan. 25 at James W. Franklin Elementary School, 14422 Hammon Lane, Huntington Beach.

* Jan. 26 at C. Fred Schroeder Elementary School, 15151 Columbia Lane, Huntington Beach.

* Jan. 27 at Ada E. Clegg Elementary and Helen Stacey Intermediate schools, 6311 Larchwood Drive, Huntington Beach.

* Jan. 31 at Frank N. Eastwood Elementary School, 13552 University St., Westminster.

* Feb. 2 at L.P. Webber Elementary School, 14142 Hoover St., Westminster.

Spanish and Vietnamese interpreters will be available.
