Universities
* Cal State L.A., Saturday Conservatory of Music. Group lessons, theory and several orchestras. One year of lessons a prerequisite. $42 for a 10-week session. Financial aid and some instruments available. (213) 343-4109.

* Colburn School of Performing Arts, 3131 S. Figueroa. After-school and Saturday instruction in full range of band and orchestral instruments. Chamber groups, jazz, guitar and string orchestra. * Suzuki Music Assn. of California, Los Angeles branch. Children 3 and up learn by listening, then by reading music. Tuition is approximately $70 to $80 a month for weekly lessons. More than 100 teachers in the Los Angeles area, for piano, violin, viola, cello and flute. (213) 937-6225.
