Share

The James Dilley Greenbelt Preserve in Laguna Canyon will be open for hiking and nature walks from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.

The wilderness area is to be open on the third Saturday of each month through June. Walkers can follow a 1.5-mile nature trail or take a 2.5-mile stroll to see the county’s largest natural lake.

In addition, guided tours into the Laguna-Laurel Ecological Preserve, which was burned in the October fire and is now sprouting new vegetation, will begin Jan. 22. For reservations, call the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park at (714) 854-7108. There are no public facilities in the wilderness areas. Dogs and bicycles are not allowed.
