VENTURA : FBI Seeks Suspect in 5 Bank Robberies

The FBI is looking for a man suspected of robbing five banks in Ventura County in the last six months, as well as two other banks during that same period in Los Angeles County.

The FBI released a photo of the man taken by closed-circuit cameras during a robbery Jan. 11 at the Great Western Bank in Ventura.

The suspect appears to be in his 40s, about 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighing 195 pounds.

In each of the seven robberies, the man has handed a teller a note asking for money and warning that he has a weapon, the FBI said.

The other robberies in Ventura County were at the Great Western Bank in Port Hueneme on Dec. 18; Bank of America in Camarillo on Aug. 6; Bank of A. Levy in Thousand Oaks on Aug. 3, and at the First State Bank of the Oaks in Thousand Oaks on July 9.

Ventura County Crime Stoppers has offered up to $1,000 for any information leading to the arrest of the suspect, an east county Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
