Appoint Technologies Inc. said Friday that President and Chief Executive Joseph C. Picken has resigned and that the company plans to sell a unit it acquired in a merger last April.

In a release, the Anaheim electronics maker said it may sell Appoint Inc., a computer input device manufacturer, back to its founder, John B. Barrett, after being unable to raise enough cash to keep the unit afloat. Barrett has also resigned as Appoint Technologies’ vice chairman, it was announced.

E.W. Baumgardner, company chairman, will assume the titles of president and chief executive, according to a company release.
