KOCE TV Series to Showcase Prominent Black Americans

Achievements by prominent black Americans will be showcased in the following programs on KOCE-TV Channel 50, Orange County’s public television station, during February, Black History Month:

* “Safe at Home Plate” (Feb. 2, 9 p.m.), on leading black baseball players of the South during the era of racial segregation.

* “Great Performances” (Feb. 24, 8 p.m.), on legendary composer-pianist Jelly Roll Morton, with footage of musical numbers, interviews and archival materials.

* “The Living Canvas” (Feb. 26, 6 p.m.), on contemporary artists Dean Mitchell, Thomas Blackshear II and Billy Dee Williams (who considers himself a “painter who acts”).

* “The Black Entrepreneur: On Location” (Saturdays, 5:30 p.m.), profiles of successful business people.
