Chrysler Profit-Sharing Checks Break Record: One day after the auto maker reported record fourth-quarter profit, it said it will give unionized employees profit-sharing checks averaging $4,300 each. Chrysler Corp. said the windfall represents the largest profit-sharing checks ever paid by a U.S. auto company. The checks, which will go out to 65,000 employees on Feb. 11, will cost the No. 3 U.S. auto maker about $28 million. Last year’s profit-sharing checks averaged $421 per employee. The previous record was $720 in 1989.
