BEVERLY HILLS : Apartment Project Wins Design Award

The Jewish Federation Council and the city have won a design award from the Urban Land Institute for a senior citizen apartment project on Crescent Avenue.

Developed with $9.3 million in city and federal funds, the 150-unit, low-income complex was chosen from a field of 25 finalists, and was one of nine projects to receive the national award, Mayor Maxwell Salter said this week.

The institute, an international organization of land planning and development professionals, bestowed the 1993 award for small-scale residential development.

The Jewish Federation Council sought the federal funding and operates the facility. The city donated $1.9 million and the land for the project, which includes a grocery store and parking facility.
