Handrails Badly Needed in Renovated Theater

Share

* We recently went to an open house to see the renovated Alex Theatre in Glendale and to check out our season ticket seat locations.

The design changes and overall decorating are excellent, but there is a major flaw. The stairs in the Terrace Section do not have any handrails. These steep stairs are reminiscent of those in the upper deck of Dodger Stadium, behind home plate.

How the city of Glendale (which owns the theater) and its building department allow this safety hazard to exist is very puzzling. Even if it meets the code, common sense dictates that handrails down the middle of the stairs be installed immediately, before a tragic accident occurs.
