WESTMINSTER : Yard Waste to Be Picked Up at Curb

Share

The Midway City Sanitary District will begin curbside pickup of yard waste such as grass clippings and tree and brush trimmings under a six-month pilot program that will start next Monday.

General Manager Don Snavely said residents should put their waste in separate containers from their household trash to make it easier for work crews.

He urged residents to use trash bins for the green waste rather than plastic bags. The collected waste will be taken to a compost facility, he said.

At the end of the six-month trial period, the program will be evaluated to determine if it will be continued, Snavely said.

“It will help the district comply with state recycling requirements,” he said.

The sanitary district serves about 75,000 households--about 85% of Westminster and the western portion of Garden Grove.
