SADDLEBACK/SOUTH BEACH : MISSION VIEJO : Saddleback College Names President
Ned Doffoney, academic affairs vice president of Los Angeles City College, has been named president of Saddleback College.
Doffoney, 43, said he was notified of the selection Tuesday morning and plans to assume his new job on March 7.
The hiring of Doffoney, an African American, also brings a racial minority to the top position of a college that has been beset with racial problems in the last year, including reported threats against black students and the circulation of racist flyers.
Doffoney has been in his current position at LACC since 1990. He previously was academic affairs vice president and dean of academic affairs at Los Angeles Southwest College, assistant dean of admissions and records at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, and financial aid and affirmative action director at Lassen College in Susanville.
