Helen Morgan; Photographer for Life, Publicist

Helen Morgan, 80, Life magazine photojournalist and publicist for such Hollywood stars as Rita Hayworth and Judy Holiday. Brought up on a Pomona citrus ranch, Miss Morgan studied at Scripps College and learned photography at her brother’s Hollywood camera store. Recruited by Life photographers who visited the store, she covered a Democratic national convention and shot pictures in Europe for the magazine. She returned to Los Angeles in 1938 to help open the first West Coast bureau for Life. Ten years later Miss Morgan was hired by Columbia Pictures to handle publicity for Holiday and Hayworth. She soon opened her own public relations firm in New York and Los Angeles, representing such stars as Maureen O’Hara, Yvonne DeCarlo and Eva Gabor. On Wednesday in Los Angeles of pneumonia.
