Alton Group Inc.: The Irvine-based manufacturer of medical diagnostic and industrial equipment, said Thursday that it has purchased a Garden Grove competitor.

Alton Group will pay MicroProbe Corp. of Bothell, Wash., $2.45 million in a combination of cash and debt for its wholly owned subsidiary Source Scientific Inc., the company said.

In addition, Alton agreed to supply MicroProbe with diagnostic instruments.

“Acquiring Source adds technologies which are synergistic to those of Alton Group,” said Bruce W. Lynch, chief executive of Alton.
