CAMARILLO : Applicants Sought for Park Board Vacancy
The Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District is seeking applicants to finish a portion of the term of a director who resigned.
John D. Dell’Amico resigned Jan. 12 with nearly three years left on his four-year term, citing personal reasons and frustration over the district’s inability to complete more projects.
Dell’Amico, 61, said he plans to move to the Northern California community of Mt. Shasta.
“Camarillo was a sleepy little town of 8,000 when I moved here in 1961,” he said. “Now it’s getting too congested.”
Dell’Amico was elected to the district’s board of directors in 1984 and reelected twice.
The district is seeking a qualified applicant to replace Dell’Amico until November, when an election will be held for a replacement to serve the remaining two years, said Eldred Lokker, the district’s general manager.
An applicant must be an eligible voter who lives in or owns property in the park district. Applicants should submit a letter of interest, along with a resume and other pertinent information, to the board of directors by Feb. 1.
Applications may be sent to the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District, Camarillo Community Center, 1605 E. Burnley St., Camarillo 93010.
