COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Mejer Scores 34, Concordia Beats Chapman

Gitte Mejer scored a game-high 32 points to help Concordia to a 76-64 victory over Chapman in a nonconference women’s basketball game Thursday at Chapman.

Mejer, a senior center who had been averaging 36 points in her last seven games, was 12 of 18 from the field. She also had 14 rebounds for Concordia (11-8). Stacey Giem added 17 for Concordia.

Melody Earle had 20 points for Chapman (3-15).

In Big West Conference women’s basketball:

New Mexico State 82, Cal State Fullerton 60--Anita Maxwell and Paulina Blunt each scored 13 points for New Mexico (13-3, 5-2), which jumped out to a 47-19 halftime lead at Titan Gym. Eleven of 12 Aggie players scored.

Shayla Bradshaw scored 13 points and had five assists for Fullerton (2-12, 1-6), which shot 21 of 63 (33%) from the field.

Nevada Las Vegas 92, UC Irvine 49--Iris Dinerman scored 17 points and Tracy Titus, former Loara standout, had 14 points and 13 rebounds for UNLV (12-3, 7-1). Jinelle Williams had 13 points and Allah-mi Basheer had 10 for UC Irvine (2-13, 1-6), which shot 13-51 (25.5%) from the field.

In men’s nonconference volleyball:

Princeton 3, UC Irvine 2--John Hutchinson had 25 kills and Dan Eggers had 16 for Princeton in an 8-15, 15-7, 15-12, 10-15, 15-12 victory. Leland Quinn had 17 kills for UC Irvine (1-2).
