It was after last week’s industry screening of “I’ll Do Anything,” the one that got jogged by a 4.4 aftershock, that we spoke to a screenwriter who said he felt he’d “finally had the ultimate L.A. experience.”

“I watched a movie about the film business with a Hollywood crowd while getting hit by an earthquake,” he said. “I feel like now I can move back to New Jersey.”

The Skinny on Tattoos: We do not have a tattoo, but if we were thinking of going for it, we’d start our research at Melrose News, where the sheer variety of tattoo magazines caught our eye.

On display were Skin Art, Tattoo, International Tattoo Art, Tattoo World, Tattoos for Women, Tattoos for Men, Tattoo Ink, Tattoo Flash, Savage, Tattoo Expo, Outlaw Biker Tattoo, Skin & Ink, and Sex, Tattoos & Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Despite the variety, the stand’s owner, Ralph Davila, who prides himself on carrying every possible tattoo-related title, thinks the body art phenomena has peaked and “the magazines are just catching up.”

“Everyone already has a tattoo now,” he said. “This summer will tell the tale. What’s better than going back to school with a tattoo? It’s the equivalent of new clothes.”

Truth in Advertising?: Perhaps it’s because we’ve never heard a menu item explained so succinctly that the comment by the waiter at Delmonico’s stands out.

He was describing to a customer worried about cholesterol what goes into risotto.

The waiter started by saying the Italian dish contained cream and Parmesan cheese, then finished by saying, “Listen, it’s basically a heart attack wrapped around rice.”
