Among the titles that Virgin Interactive has in development is a video game version of “The Lion King,” based on an upcoming Walt Disney Co. animated movie.

Virgin collaborated with Disney and Sega of America Inc. to create a video game based on the movie Aladdin. Now Alper says that cooperation, led by a 15-person Virgin development team in Las Vegas, is being taken further in the Lion King project.

Alper says Disney tells him that the new film may top Aladdin in box-office receipts. If that is the case, the video game could be published this fall on both the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis formats, only a few months after the movie’s summer release.
