CAMARILLO : Craven Will Seek 3rd Council Term

Camarillo City Councilwoman Charlotte Craven said Monday that she intends to seek a third term on the City Council in November’s general election.

Craven is the first of three incumbent council members whose terms expire in November to announce a bid for reelection. If elected, Craven, a former mayor of the city, will start her third term in office. After an unsuccessful bid in 1982, she was elected to the council in 1986.

“Basically, I want to run again because there are issues coming before the council that I would like to have a hand in resolving,” Craven said. “I feel like there’s still important work to do.”

The 49-year-old councilwoman said that, if reelected, she will concentrate on maintaining the city’s conservative fiscal policies, continuing to support the creation of affordable family housing in the city and working to see that a Point Mugu Navy base proposal to open its runway to civilian and cargo traffic does not adversely affect Camarillo residents.

Also up for reelection in the fall are Mayor Ken Gose and Councilman Stan Daily. Gose said Monday that he has not made up his mind whether he will run. Daily could not be reached for comment Monday. The candidates’ filing period opens July 18.
