Japanese Firm Gains Control of OC Contractor: Conglomerate Mitsui & Co. now controls more than 65% of Laguna Niguel-based Birtcher Real Estate Ltd., according to Andrew L. Youngquist, president of subsidiary Birtcher Construction Ltd. In June, 1990, Mitsui paid more than $100 million for 50% of Birtcher. Ronald E. Birtcher and Arthur B. Birtcher have stepped down as co-chairmen.
