Rams Allow Zampese to Shop

The Rams have granted offensive coordinator Ernie Zampese permission to begin negotiations with the Dallas Cowboys to fill the spot vacated by Norv Turner, who was named head coach of the Washington Redskins Wednesday.

Zampese is expected to meet with Cowboy Coach Jimmy Johnson next week.

The Rams were not obligated to free Zampese, who has a year remaining on his contract. But in answer to Zampese’s concern about the team’s possible move from Anaheim, Ram Coach Chuck Knox gave him permission to discuss the Cowboy vacancy.
