PORT HUENEME : Suspects Sought in Condominium Heists

Share

Port Hueneme police are searching for suspects in a series of daytime burglaries at three condominium complexes.

Since October, residents have reported about a dozen break-ins at the Harbor Lights, Marlboro by the Sea and Sandpiper Village developments. In each case, residences were entered after someone kicked in a front door that was shielded by a courtyard.

“They’re using their feet,” Officer Kenneth Dobbe said. “They just kick the door until it breaks the door frame and breaks the locks off.”

The items most frequently stolen have been jewelry, VCRs and televisions.

Investigators thought that they had the burglaries solved in early January, when they recovered stolen property and linked several burglaries to a man who was already in jail. But the break-ins have continued and police are searching for additional suspects.

Anyone with information on the burglaries is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 986-TALK or 385-TALK. If the information leads to criminal charges, the tipster may be eligible for a cash reward.

“If people would just start calling us every time they see something suspicious, maybe something would come out of it,” Dobbe said.
