PICO RIVERA : School Board Replaces Its Superintendent

Share

The El Rancho Unified school board, which voted last month not to renew Supt. John T. Sherman’s contract after it expires in June, decided this week to oust the superintendent immediately.

The board named Anne Eichman, 51, director of welfare and attendance and principal of the district’s continuation school, to head the 10,700-student district until a permanent superintendent is hired. The board agreed to continue paying Sherman’s salary, $92,750 a year, until June, when he will be eligible for early retirement. The board also agreed to pay Sherman $4,000 a year for five years. Sherman, who has worked in the district 32 years, has been superintendent about 1 1/2 years.
