Gov. David Walters, who pleaded guilty last year to violating campaign finance laws, avoided an impeachment inquiry when the Oklahoma House voted against the move.

“We’re glad to have it behind us,” Walters said after the 52-47 vote Wednesday. “We don’t hold anything against anybody.”

Walters, a Democrat who is completing his first four-year term, has said he will not seek reelection.

Walters pleaded guilty in October to accepting $18,500 from a contributor during his 1990 campaign.
