Ford Recalls 1988 Trucks: About 31,500 of the company’s Ranger compact pickup trucks with 2.0-liter engines are being recalled because their emissions may be excessive. Tests done by Detroit-based Ford Motor Co. and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency show that the trucks could exceed allowable U.S. and Canadian levels of nitrogen oxides. About 3,800 of the trucks were sold in Canada, Ford said. Ford will make all repairs for free at authorized dealerships. The repair includes replacement of the exhaust catalyst and exhaust gas recirculation valve.
