Golden West, Fr.

Basketball / Center

The first time Golden West played Orange Coast in an Orange Empire Conference game this season, the Rustlers had a simple plan--get the ball inside to Murdent. She responded with a season-high 24 points as Golden West won in overtime, 79-71. When the teams met last Wednesday the plan was the same. This time Murdent, from Fountain Valley High School, had 22 points in a 65-55 victory. She also had 17 rebounds and four blocked shots. She came back to score 18 points and get 11 rebounds as Golden West clinched the conference title with a 91-68 victory over Saddleback Friday.

Other notables:

* Jennifer Johnson, Cypress, had 18 points and seven rebounds as the Chargers beat Saddleback, 79-46.

* Kim Stiglbauer, Cypress, pitched a two-hit shutout as the Chargers beat Palomar, 2-0, in the title game of the Rancho Santiago tournament.
