Head-Turning Gimmick: The California Restaurant Assn. will use a giant “upside-down chef” to send a message to President Clinton. Attendees at the CRA’s Southern California Foodservice Exposition at the Anaheim Convention Center on March 20 and 21 will write their opinion of Clinton’s health care plan on a giant figure of an upside-down chef.

Accompanying individual messages will be the association’s stance on Clinton’s controversial health care plan: “Employer-paid mandated health care would turn the food service industry on its head.”

When they’re not jotting a note to Clinton, attendees will have their pick of several seminars, including a program on recent immigration developments. The seminar will describe the rights and responsibilities of employers who might have hired employees who are not legal residents.
