ALHAMBRA: A man shot in the face on Chinese New Year’s Eve at the Jumbo Chinese Restaurant at 203 W. Valley Blvd. remained in critical condition at County-USC Medical Center but is improving, police said. Mingo Ho, 44, of Arcadia, was shot Feb. 9 as he tried to stop two robbers from taking money from the restaurant.

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST: Sheriff’s deputies and search-and-rescue crews found 17-year-old Chris Steingart of Pasadena in the forest after a six-hour search Saturday. Steingart had gotten lost during a mountain bike ride.

BALDWIN PARK: A man who refused to give police his name was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving Sunday afternoon after he allegedly caused two accidents, injuring one person and damaging several cars.

IRWINDALE: Patrolman George Natzel recovered his own stolen car Sunday morning. As he stood with another officer during a routine traffic stop, Natzel watched his white 1981 Chevrolet Malibu cruise by and turn right on Alpha Street. Natzel hopped in his patrol car and stopped the vehicle just as it was pulling into an auto-wrecking shop. Two suspects were arrested and Natzel got his car back undamaged.

PASADENA: A car accident at Glen Avenue and Washington Boulevard killed one Pasadena resident and seriously injured another Sunday night, police said. Durrell Carr, 29, was killed when his car slammed into a light pole at high speed. His passenger, Darren Lockett, 26, was taken to Huntington Hospital in serious condition.

POMONA: Two Pomona men were shot and killed Friday about 3 a.m., police said. James F. Bailey Jr., 50, and Lamar Harris, 34, were standing near a pickup when an unidentified man drove up in a Cadillac and fired several shots. Bailey was shot in the chest and died on arrival at Pomona Valley Medical Center. Harris, who was wounded in the head, was pronounced dead. No arrests have been made.

POMONA: A 70-year-old Pomona man found shot to death in his home about noon Monday was murdered, police said. George Pickens’ body was discovered in his house at 210 W. 8th St. after friends told officers they had not seen him since Friday. George Lincoln, 46, who lived with Pickens off and on, was arrested Monday and charged with murder. Lincoln later said the shooting was the result of an argument over the handgun, police said.

SOUTH PASADENA: Two men robbed a Bank of America branch in the 900 block of Fair Oaks Avenue on Thursday about 12:30 p.m. The two told a teller they had a weapon and then escaped with $582, police said.

WEST COVINA: A 17-year-old from West Covina was stabbed to death about midnight Sunday during a fight at a bachelor party on South Indian Summer Avenue, police said. Daryl Smith had argued with Brian Stinson, 20, of Laguna Hills over a tip for a stripper at the party. Their words eventually turned to blows and then Stinson allegedly stabbed Smith several times in the torso. Stinson and his girlfriend, 20-year-old Jennifer Biedrycki of Covina, have been charged with murder. Biedrycki allegedly kicked Smith several times during the fight.

WEST COVINA: A 15-year-old from Rowland Heights was shot in the head Sunday at 12:30 a.m. after two cars filled with gang members began exchanging insults near Nogales Avenue and Shakespeare Drive, police said. Front-seat passenger Reynaldo Castillo Canlas was hit in the back of the head by gunfire and killed instantly.
