Long Beach State Loses in Overtime : Big West: Anderson scores six of his 20 points in extra period to lead Utah State, 80-76.
Roddie Anderson scored six of his 20 points in overtime to lead Utah State to an 80-76 Big West Conference victory over Long Beach State Thursday night.
The Aggies, 11-11 overall and 8-6 in the Big West, started the overtime with an 8-1 run to lead, 75-68, with 2:46 to play.
Utah State made five of six free throws in the final 39 seconds, with Jarobi Kemp making four of four to finish with 14 points.
Nathan Wickizer had 19 points and nine rebounds and reserve Corwin Woodard scored 15 points to help the Aggies to their fifth consecutive victory.
Rod Hannibal led Long Beach (12-8, 7-6) with 29 points, 24 in the second half. Mike Atkinson scored 17 points and Terrance O’Kelley 15.
Hannibal scored eight points in a 14-0 run that gave the 49ers their first lead, 43-42, with 13:59 to play.
Utah State’s Jon Wickizer sent the game into overtime with a layup with nine seconds to play.
O’Kelley missed a three-point attempt and Nathan Wickizer pulled down the rebound.
