It’s Casting Director
The Times continues to call casting directors casting agents (“South Carolina High School Teacher Wins Miss USA Contest,” Section A, Feb. 12). There is no such thing as a casting agent. Casting directors do not represent actors, and we do not receive commissions (as do talent agents). Casting directors are hired by producers and directors.
And one more issue: In the review, “ ‘Twogether’: Uncommonly Reflective Love Story” (Calendar, Feb. 11), which I cast, the film is given a wonderful review and the casting is mentioned, yet in the crew list costume design and sound editing are mentioned but no casting credit is given. Why does The Times continue to neglect credit for casting directors?
