IBM Tells of 705 Job Cuts: The layoffs, announced last Friday, include 320 staff members at its Endicott, N.Y., operations and others at facilities in Texas. The computer maker said it expects to announce an additional 1,200 layoffs next month, part of its plan to slash 30,000 jobs this year.
