VENTURA : Neighbors Polled Over Fireworks Show
Residents near Ventura College are being polled to see if they object to a proposed July 4 fireworks show at the campus.
The college and the Ventura Rotary Club are considering putting on the show, which would be the first Independence Day fireworks display in the city since 1992.
The show would be staged on the college’s softball field, and tickets would be sold for seating in the fenced area, according to a flyer seeking neighbors’ comments. Neighbors would each receive two complimentary tickets. Security and supervised parking would be provided; alcohol would be prohibited.
“We need the cooperation of all the neighbors,” said Norman Blacher, president-elect of the Ventura Rotary Club. “We’re hoping they would go along.”
