The Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board has set up a hot line for Ventura County businesses seeking information about waste discharge requirements and other water-related issues.

The hot line, coupled with a new business assistance office, will enable callers to speak with the board’s staff between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.

“The board’s goal in setting up this office is to help the public and the regulated community get through the permitting process quickly and efficiently,” said Robert Ghirelli, regional board executive director.

“We want to make the process less burdensome for the public by helping people make sense out of the water quality rules and regulations with which they must comply,” he said in a statement released by the board.

The board oversees permitting and regulation of issues relating to waste discharge and water quality in Ventura County.

The hot line number is (800) 500-8008.
