Betty Friedan, who brought the modern women’s movement to the forefront with her book “The Feminine Mystique,” will be the keynote speaker Saturday at Cal Lutheran University’s seminar “Creative Options, A Day for Women.”

Held each spring on the Cal Lutheran campus, the seminar features 75 workshops in a range of topics. Participants are entitled to choose one workshop from each of three categories. The cost is $18 for the day.

“We wanted to offer something for everyone, no matter what their age or stage of personal development,” said Carol Keochekian, director of university relations and founder of the program.

Co-sponsored by the American Assn. of University Women and the Women’s Resource Center at Cal Lutheran, the 10-year-old seminar has more than 1,000 registrants each year.

“This program has become an established part of the university and its culture over the years,” Keochekian said.

In addition to offering the seminar, Creative Options also funds a scholarship for re-entry women at the university.

The workshop runs from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. at Cal Lutheran, 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks. Free child care is available for children ages 3 to 9. For information, call the campus Women’s Resource Center at 493-3345 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
