Lesbian, Gay Spring Film Fest Slated

The Gay and Lesbian Media Coalition will present the Vito Russo Lesbian and Gay Spring Film Festival March 18-19 in Theaters I and II at the Directors Guild, 7920 Sunset Blvd.

The festival opens at 7:30 p.m. with Rose Troche’s “Go Fish,” a hit at the recent Sundance Film Festival and a story of contemporary lesbian life. Other films screening March 18 are John Greyson’s “Zero Patience,” a musical about sciences, bigotry, AIDS and sex (9:30 p.m.); “Marching for Freedom,” a documentary on the 1993 March on Washington for Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Equal Rights (7 p.m.), and a reprise of “Forbidden Love,” a documentary on lesbian life in decades past (9 p.m.).

Screening March 19 are Pratibha Parmar and Alice Walker’s “Warrior Marks,” a film about female genital mutilation (3 p.m.); a reprise of the late Amos Gutman’s “Amazing Grace,” a prize-winning Israeli drama about love in the age of AIDS (5 p.m.); a second screening of “Marching for Freedom” (3:30 p.m.), and a reprise of the Canadian film “Strangers in Good Company,” the story of seven elderly women, including a lesbian, stranded in a deserted farmhouse (5:30 p.m.)
