United Offers to Sweeten Pot for Flight Attendants: The airline said it is willing to make concessions to the union representing its flight attendants after their latest talks failed. The Flight Attendants Assn., with 18,000 members at parent company UAL Corp., said it was unable to reach agreement with United that would have the union join an employee buyout of the airline. Unions representing pilots and machinists have already approved $5 billion in concessions for a 53% to 63% stake in the carrier.
