Attack on Teacher

Share

* So physical education teacher Pamela Altea “placed herself in jeopardy” of the vicious beating she received by male gang members because she left her school’s gate open due to a faulty lock, heh (Feb. 17)?

That any thinking, responsible person--much less Altea’s colleagues--would take such a ludicrous attitude is precisely the reason her criminal attackers could assault her in open daylight on school property.

This country, this state, this county, this city, and Washington Middle School in Pasadena need to clean house, take out the garbage and hire a new maid service. We can start with people like School Board President George Van Astine, Supt. Vera Vignes, and chief of the district’s police force, Jarado Blue, who blame Altea for this reprehensible physical violation on a female educator.

* Altea could have just driven away from school that day and avoided the attack, but she didn’t. Instead, she “made a mistake” and “put herself in jeopardy” by doing a “very scary” thing: her job.
