The Power of ‘Colour’

Share

Celine Dion, often put in the same vocal league with Mariah Carey, has blossomed into such a commercial force that she’s performing like Carey on the charts too--topping both of The Times’ Southern California pop charts. Dion’s “The Colour of My Love” is the No. 1 album and her “The Power of Love” is the leading single. One of the surprise hits of the year--receiving an early boost from KROQ exposure--is Us3’s “Cantaloop,” which is not only No. 9 on the local chart but No. 7 nationally. When it first came out, few thought the jazz/rap single would get much major airplay.
