AIR BURBANK: From year to year, life...

AIR BURBANK: From year to year, life doesn’t change much at Burbank Airport. In fact, the air traffic--air carrier, air taxi, general aviation and military--hardly varied at all from 1992 to ’93. . . . Overall, takeoffs and landings, above, went down about 2,600 flights. (B2)

TURF WAR: Like the drug dealers she opposes, a self-proclaimed one-woman crime fighter in Van Nuys is trying to protect her territory. (B1) . . . She claims a Neighborhood Watch group has invaded her turf and says its efforts to scare away prostitutes and their customers by videotaping them are ineffective.

FAMILY FEUDS: If you think bank robberies or murders are the most dangerous calls police officers face, guess again. An angry, and armed, husband and wife, or father and son can be much more deadly. (B1) . . . A recent FBI report said that domestic disturbance calls, such as the one that slain Officer Christy Lynne Hamilton answered in Northridge last week, account “for more line-of-duty deaths than any other circumstance.”

NAME GAME: Residents of Lake Los Angeles voted in November to change the community’s name to Desert Buttes, largely because the town no longer has a lake nearby. But the new name has become the butt of several jokes, including one that refers to residents as “butt-heads,” and the local Town Council has scheduled another election on the issue. (B20) . . . Loyalists say the desert town’s name is no worse than that of the Antelope Valley--which has no antelopes.

AFTERSHOCKS: Thousands of San Fernando Valley residents affected by last month’s Northridge earthquake are finding that it’s not easy to put their lives back together. Many are still homeless. Others are jobless. Countless others have found their futures dependent on a maze of official paperwork needed for loans, housing, food and necessities. (B1)
