MOORPARK : Review Policy for Proposed Laws OKd
Hoping to avoid gaps in the city’s review of ordinances, the Moorpark City Council has adopted a procedure ensuring that all proposed local laws undergo the same scrutiny before they get to the council for action.
The policy ensures that every proposed ordinance receives a full review by staff members, the city manager and city attorney before winding its way onto the council dais.
“It just puts the whole thing into context and shows the flow of approvals and cycles,” Mayor Paul Lawrason said of the new procedure. “I think this comes from the fact that some things have been brought to us that really weren’t ready for City Council attention.”
