NOT OUR FAULT: The earth moved again Thursday morning, but don’t blame us. A magnitude 2.9 temblor struck at 9:34 a.m. near Downey, but it wasn’t an aftershock of the Northridge earthquake, Caltech said. . . . “Nobody said a word about it,” said Ruth Sullivan, secretary for Downey’s City Council. “I thought maybe I’d imagined it.”

ALL MINE: Developer Alexander Haagen has abruptly ended a 10-year partnership with the city of Los Angeles by taking his company public, cutting Los Angeles out of its $50-million stake in the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza (B1). . . . Haagen, who also owns the Burbank Media City Center and the site of a future Chatsworth courthouse, argues that he sold the mall to a separate company--Alexander Haagen Properties Inc.

LIVING HISTORY: Not Michelangelo, but an incredible simulation! Actually, it was actor Pablo Marz, portraying the Renaissance artist for a group of kids Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park in Glendale (B1). . . . Absent, however, was the cemetery’s replica of Michelangelo’s David. The 10-ton statue suffered some cracks in the Jan. 17 quake and is undergoing repairs, publicity manager Dick Fisher said.

HELLO, THIGHS: Believe it or not, thighs are becoming the focal point of fashion this spring--at least for the young and toned. . . . Fashion mavens say thigh highs, also known as over-the-knee stockings, are a perfect companion to the season’s hot pant-style shorts and short skirts. See Valley Life! Page 28

SPINNING A RECORD: Needing 29 points to set the Cal State Northridge career scoring record, Andre Chevalier poured in a personal best 38 in the Matadors’ season finale, a 95-87 upset of San Diego State (C8). . . . Chevalier, a 6-foot senior guard, finished his career with 1,311 points, breaking the record of 1,301 set by Jim Malkin from 1959-62.
