COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Pacific Christian Advances at Nationals
Charles Ross scored a game-high 31 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead Pacific Christian to a 103-91 victory over Piedmont (N.C.) College in the quarterfinals of the National Christian College Athletic Assn. Division II men’s basketball championship at Springfield, Mo.
Chuck Henderson added 25 and Ruxton Schmietenknop 20 for Pacific Christian (27-16). The Royals shot 62% from the field and will play No. 2-seeded Northwest (Wash.) College at 6 p.m. today. Piedmont finished 21-11.
In Big West Conference women’s basketball:
Pacific 80, UC Irvine 62--Connie Blaisure had 14 points and Lainie Lahoda added 13 for visiting Pacific (14-11, 9-8). Tamera Thomas scored 14 and Cher Scanlon had 10 for UC Irvine (4-21, 3-14).
