Refreshing Change
After years and years of wrong decisions, the Thousand Oaks City Council is finally beginning to make sense. The defeat of Mayor Elois Zeanah’s wetlands ordinance is a refreshing change from the all-out assault on private property rights.
The proposal was just another covert law for government to gain control over the rights of individuals. Make no mistake. The primary purpose of this ordinance was not to protect wetlands, but rather to gain additional control over planning and development of real property.
The controls of sensible development should be left to the guidelines set in the city General Plan and zoning codes.
