A West Los Angeles company, Metro Wireless Interactive Corp., says it has signed a letter of intent to acquire Simi Valley-based Lightwave Products Inc., producer of an interactive system that allows teleconferencing between computer users.

The system is currently being used by the FBI, the Defense Department and several other government agencies and companies, Metro said.

Amos Lewis, Lightwave’s president, will remain as head of the Simi Valley firm under a long-term contract and will also receive an undisclosed amount of Metro shares, the announcement added.
