Science Fair Seeks Volunteer Judges

Share

Organizers of the Ventura County Science Fair are seeking retired teachers and other county residents who have a background in science to serve as volunteer judges for the event.

Sponsored by the Ventura County Economic Development Assn. and the county superintendent of schools, this year’s science fair will be held April 19-21 at the County Fairgrounds in Ventura.

Students in the sixth through 12th grades in public and private schools are entering science projects in the event.

Volunteer judges will be asked to attend an orientation and barbecue dinner in Camarillo on April 13, in addition to spending about four hours judging entries at the fairgrounds April 20.

The science fair will present awards in eight categories: botany; chemistry or biochemistry; earth, space and environment; math and computers; microbiology and medical science; physics; psychology, sociology and human behavior; and zoology and human behavior.

But organizers said their biggest need is for people to judge the botany entries. For more information, call Elaine Daugherty at 388-4411.
