Today: Democrats United will sponsor a “light-hearted roast” to honor state Sen. Gary K. Hart (D-Santa Barbara) as he completes the first year of his current term in the state Senate. The Oxnard High School jazz band will entertain and Bob Guillen, executive secretary of the Ventura County Building and Construction Trades Council, will supervise the cooking. Assemblyman Jack O’Connell (D-Carpinteria) will emcee the $25-a-plate event, which starts at 6 p.m. in the Oxnard Room of the Oxnard Community Center, 800 Hobson Way, Oxnard. Saturday: “We’re All a Little Irish,” a $50-per-couple fund-raiser, will be held for H. Saturday: Republican 24th Congressional District candidate Robert Hammer will deliver speeches to two groups. Wednesday: The Conejo Republican Action Committee will hold a candidates forum for Republicans campaigning for the 24th Congressional District and Ventura County 2nd Supervisorial District.
