On the day Arizona State saluted its seniors, sophomore forward Ron Riley stole the show.

Riley scored a career-high points 27 points Saturday to lead Arizona State to a 94-87 victory over No. 7 Arizona at Tempe.

Despite the loss, which ended an eight-game winning streak, Arizona (25-5, 14-4) won the Pac-10 championship.

Riley, who made nine of 14 shots, said the team dedicated the game to its seniors: Stevin Smith, Dwayne Fontana and Robert Conlisk.

“Definitely, because it is their last time,” Riley said. “We knew we had to play hard. We told them that we had to do it for them.”

Arizona State trailed only once in the second half in improving to 15-12 overall and 10-8 in the Pacific 10 Conference.

“I think you can consider this a complete game except for the first two minutes when a couple of easy shots didn’t fall,” Arizona State Coach Bill Frieder said. “We knew the kids were focused and ready to go. We just didn’t know if they were good enough.”

Washington State 94, No. 16 California 82--Eddie Hill made seven three-point shots and scored 27 points at Pullman, Wash., to boost the Cougars’ hopes for an NCAA tournament bid.

For Cal (22-7, 13-5), the loss ended hopes for a Pac-10 title.

Washington State (20-10, 10-8) pulled ahead with a 21-11 run early in the second half and never trailed again.
