About 17 patrons of a Torrance children’s restaurant were taken to hospitals for treatment Sunday evening after someone sprayed the restaurant’s game area with pepper spray, police said.

Six children and 11 adults who were at the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant on Prairie Avenue were taken to four South Bay hospitals, said Torrance fire Battalion Chief Dennis Coker. Three were still being evaluated in the emergency room late Sunday night, said a spokesperson for Torrance Memorial Hospital.

Diners and employees evacuated quickly after an unidentified man sprayed the substance in the busy restaurant.
