Oak Canyon Nature Center Trip--The Sea & Sage chapter of the National Audubon Society will sponsor a field trip to the Oak Canyon Nature Center in Anaheim Hills Tuesday.

The center features trails that meander under big oak trees, along hillsides of coastal sage scrub and past natural streams.

A variety of birds can be heard and spotted at the center, including California quails, cactus wrens, California thrashers and wrentits, as well as different types of hawks and warblers.

The trip will begin at 8 a.m. and end about noon.

The center is at 6700 Walnut Canyon Road in Anaheim. To reach it, take the Riverside (91) Freeway to Imperial Highway. Exit and go south to Nohl Ranch Road. Turn left and travel about three miles to Walnut Canyon Road, and turn left again. The nature center is at the end of the road, parking is on the left. The group will meet in the parking lot and walk from there.

Resort Nature Walks--The Newport Dunes Resort will hold free nature walks through the wildlife preserve Saturday as part of its monthlong “Seeing Green” series.

The walks will be led by an environmental expert.

Young Audubons--South Coast Audubon, a chapter of the National Audubon Society, will hold a free Young Audubons meeting Wednesday.

Baby birds and their parents will be the topic of the meeting, which is open to youths ages 5 to 12.

It will be held at 6 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club, 1304 Calle Valle, San Clemente.
